Fishing Pliers - used for removing the hook from fish and as scissors.
Knife - for cutting line, chopping up bait and dispatching of fish
Grip Weights - make sure the weight is suitable for the rod, usually around 4-8oz
Rigs - we used a Two Hook Flapper Rig [2 hooks with two baits per rod]
Tide Times Guide or online - usually the best [4 hours) for shore fishing is 2 hours before the high tide and two hours after. Check tide times for the beach you want to fish at.
Fishing Wire Trace - great for quickly switching between rigs.
Baiting Needle - great for getting the lug worm onto the hook
Dish towel or small towel
Chair or tent - for chilling
Lastly, think about what you’ll do with any fish you’ll catch. Will you be putting them back or taking them home? If you want to keep them - there are size regulations you need to adhere to. Bring a bucket or cooler box to put the fish in.

Which rod?
We used a 12ft beachcaster. A beachcaster is typically a rod that is used from the shore for sea fishing. Beach casters can range from 12′ to 16′ in length and designed to cast a long distance. These rods can be heavy so you may want to go try a carbon fibre rod.
Which reel?
We used a Silk Line Vigor 70fd
Which line?
We used 30lb Monofilament Line that came with the reel.
